As a hospitality and tourism major, you can look at some fun travel jobs to get an idea of the jobs you might apply for during your final year. Many students think about working in hotels or in restaurants. While you can manage the staff at a restaurant, help coordinate plans in a conference center or assist guests checking into a hotel, you'll find some other fun jobs that might appeal to you.

Tour Guide

Do you love spending a lot of time outside and helping people discover hidden gems in a certain city or area? Working as a tour guide lets you enjoy the fresh air and sunshine every time you go to work. Many state parks and national parks need guides to lead travelers on tours of those parks. You can also work for a tour guide company and lead travelers on tours of cities and other destinations on foot or by bus. Museums need tour guides to work with guests too.

Travel Writer

Nicole Fallon of Business News Daily recommends travel writing as a job for those who love to travel. As a writer, you have the chance to travel the country or the world and share your experiences with others. You can work for a magazine, a newspaper or for yourself. Popular travel magazines only hire writers with a lot of experience and a strong portfolio. You can show your writing abilities through a blog or website that you start. Running your own site lets you write about anything you like and talk about things like the top restaurants in your city or hidden gems in your area.

Flight Attendant

If you have dreams of traveling the world but worry that you'll never make enough money to see everything you want to see, you might work as a flight attendant. Most airlines require that flight attendants have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and strong customer service skills. Flight attendants make travelers feel more comfortable during flights, help prepare the plane for guests and handle any problems that arise during the flight. As a bonus, many airlines allow flight attendants to fly for free and offer free tickets for their guests.

Activities Director

One of the more popular job on a cruise ship is that of an activities director. Activities directors are the ones who help plan all the fun things that passengers do. They can arrange for on-board activities like a karaoke night where everyone has the chance to get up and sing or a scavenger hunt that leads passengers on a trip all around the ship. Activities directors also work with passengers as they do excursions away from the ship too. As an activities director, you'll spend weeks and even months on the water.

Instructor

Some of the fun travel jobs that you can get right out of college allow you to instruct others and teach them how to do fun and exciting things. As a scuba diving or snorkeling instructor, you'll show students how to stay safe in the water and take them on trips to see coral reefs and exotic sea animals. Surfing instructors get paid to teach tourists how to surf in the ocean. You will also find jobs that help you teach English to those who need help. English teachers often work in parts of Asia but can work in other regions too.

When you graduate from a hospitality and tourism program, you will find more work available to you than those in conference centers, hotels and restaurants. Fun travel jobs like working as a flight attendant or activities director pay you money as you travel the world.
